GRATITUDE Again. Except it feels much different this time. Because being so restricted truly sucks. All of the fun is gone, right? No sports, no concerts, no family fun runs, no parades. No events of any kind. Or perhaps it doesn’t suck. It feels good to pause. To spend more time with the family and a hell of a lot less time in the office. After all, that’s what we’ve all been wishing for years! Well, here it is. For many of us, anyway. I’m feeling a deeper appreciation for the freedoms I’d already created in my day as I’ve been working from home for awhile. Welcome to my world! It’s so beautiful here. I’m grateful to be in this place at this time. Even now. Even through a shit storm. And for those of you deemed essential, I send you my deepest gratitude for all that you do for all of us, day and night. Your tremendous efforts are seen. Your contributions support all of our lives. Thank you. Sending you my love and deepest admiration. Each and every one of you.
SURREAL Seeing an empty playground on a beautiful spring morning is surreal. I already miss the echos of laughter and the squeals of delight as I passed through on my walk. Still I know they will return. There is a new life for us on the other side of the chaos. I don’t know what that looks like, but in my dreams we will have become better for having gone through this together. We will demonstrate more kindness, patience, and love. A girl can dream.
DARING Just a few days ago, we experienced the last Open House of our time in elementary school. And this hit me like a ton a bricks. Still daring to dream big. This may end soon. Because I look at all of the adults around me and mostly what I see is fear. 😱 What will they think of me? 😱 I don’t know where to start. 😱 I can’t possibly do that. 😱 Okay, but I won’t tell anyone. You know by now that I often look to children for inspiration. This is why. Because they are still DARING TO DREAM. Where did your dreams go? Dig deep and find them again, because that’s what this life is meant for! Come on, now. I dare you.
What are you afraid of?! Don’t you know that the best way to climb is to keep looking forward? Looking back could be fatal. So why spend one minute doing that? There are those among us who slam quote sharing but IDGAF. Because I look at this one almost daily. When something resonates and drives you forward, don’t just read about it, LIVE IT.
UNIQUE I have been receiving all of the signs around our individuality and gifts throughout the day. And so I will leave this right here as it’s all that remains to be said. • “As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has—or ever will have—something inside that is unique to all time. Consider if you will that while you may be caught up in trying to find the PERFECT moment in time, it may be simply happening right in front of you. That is all.
